Mossman Stairwell -
Southwestern's Hidden Ocean
Gone, But Not Forgotten
During the mid 80's, a talented bunch of Southwestern art and biology students applied their artistry to the walls of the Mossman stairwell. They covered their brick canvas with images of the ocean, from the creatures that inhabit its depths to the birds that fill its skies. This past summer during the renovation of Mossman, part of the stairwell was destroyed and the remainder was inadvertently painted over. Luckily, one of the science faculty members tried to document many of the images after construction began, preserving the legacy of Southwestern's Hidden Ocean for future generations of Marine Biology majors.
