Financial Aid Information for Students

Students planning to participate in a travel program may be able to finance the expenses of the program using student loans.  There are two types of loans available to cover travel expenses:  Guaranteed Federal Stafford Loans and Private Alternative Loans.

The Office of Financial Aid is happy to discuss options with any student interested in using financial aid to help them travel abroad.  Please remember, however, that eligibility for these types of assistance is on an individual basis and financing solutions need to be crafted with each unique situation in mind.

Please also remember that planning ahead is extremely important where financial aid is concerned.  The process to receive a loan can sometimes take up to 4-6 weeks.  The best scenario is to secure your financial aid eligibility before committing to a travel program so that you are sure that the money will be there for you when you need it.  If you need to commit to the program before receiving your loan funds, keep in mind that you will potentially have to forfeit your deposit if you are ultimately not approved for a loan.
